The Battle Shifts North to Sacramento Raceway for Round-6 of 9
Round-6 of the 2008 Battle of the Imports Championship season takes us to Northern California to Sacramento Raceway located in Sacramento, CA. "We are coming off of an intense Eastcoast swing and it's definitely refreshing to be back on the Westcoast," commented Frank Choi, Battle of the Imports. "The recent event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was logistically challenging with being on Eastcoast just ten days prior to opening the gates at this one. Additionally, the holidays made it tough on everyone with impacted schedules across the board."

The action will be packed in Sacramento as racers continue to jockey themselves with only four events remaining before champions will be crowned. In Pro-Stock, current points leader Norris Prayoonto (Fairfax, VA) is looking to cushion his lead over Scott Kelley (Anaheim, CA) and Leslie Armendariz (Huntington Beach, CA) but knows that it won't be easy. "We had some issues at the Budds Creek, MD event and it caused us to miss the Vegas event," commented Prayoonto. "We are bringing our A-game because we know how close it's going to be from now until a champion is determined."

In Pro-Import, current points leader Kenny Tran (Garland, TX) has his hands full after losing in the semi-final round against Jake Montgomery (Nampa, ID). "It was a strange that our car just died and would not start after the burnout," commented Tran. "We know Bryan is bringing everything he's got to Sacramento and trust me, we will be prepared." This was the first time that the Pro-Import class netted all qualifiers bettering 10.00

Pro-FWD has Ed Bergenholtz (Tustin, CA) sitting on top but realizes that 7.40's or better is what it's going to take to fend off the likes Marty Ladwig (San Antonio, TX) who pilots the Lucas Oils GM Cobalt. "We had engine problems the first half of the season but worked though them," commented Bergenholtz. "We know what this car is capable of and this past weekend in Las Vegas, we were able to run three back-to-back 7.40's in the heat and elevation. We are looking forward to running against Marty and expect some great side by side racing."

In additioin to all the intense drag race action, car clubs from all over will be converging at Sacramento Raceway to get a shot at national fame in publications such as Super Street, Import Tuner, Sport Compact Car and Turbo Magazine. "We are expecting a good number of showcars in Sacramento," commented Lawrence Ojas, Battle of the Imports. "Northern California has some of the hottest showcars around." Additionally, the Battle of the Imports will also play host to the Import Tuner Swimsuit competition, interactive vendors midway, live DJ's and a host of other lifestyle attractions from the main stage.

Sacramento Raceway is an NHRA member track and is home to events such as the Western States ET Championships and a host of Junior drag racing events.
